Steve Klassen, CMI AHI
I am the owner/operator of All In One Home Inspections Inc and I have been involved with the mid island construction industry for over 30 years. The majority of my time in the industry has been spent in the fire and flood damage business performing emergency response and post emergency repairs for insurance companies and their clients. I specialize in water and mold remediation, and I am also a Certified Mold Inspector (CMI), Level 1 thermographer, HIABC Accredited Home Inspector (AHI), and a certified level 1 WETT inspector.
You may be saying to yourself: “There are many home inspectors who used to be general contractors.
Why should I use you?” Here’s why!
My water damage and mold remediation experience is extensive. I am able to provide qualified mold inspections, or indoor quality and surface testing for clients that have these specific concerns. I am one of the few qualified inspectors on Vancouver Island to employ the use of an Infrared camera, and my extensive knowledge in building sciences is also helpful in tracking unseen moisture problems in attics, walls and other areas of the structure.
I have performed repairs on thousands of insurance claims including water and mold damage as well as structural compromise as a result of fire damage, vehicle impact, and severe wind damage. As a result I have seen more than my share of building deficiencies and poor construction practice.
The average general contractor gets to choose the projects he or she works on and is often using new materials and building new structures. As a restoration and remediation contractor, I provided repair work to a wide array of different structures from old to new and from large to small. With insurable losses you can not control nor choose where and when you will provide your services, or who you will be working for.
I have worked with insurance adjusters, engineers and homeowners writing repair specifications for projects valued from $1000 to $1,000,000. This means that the suggestions that I make regarding the repair of deficiencies are based on a broad knowledge base of a home’s systems and components.
The Result
As a direct result of my background and experience, I am extremely good with first time home buyers, and I explain topics in a way that is easy for clients to understand. I am not an alarmist, and I can often provide cost effective solutions to even what seems like the most serious condition.
I do not rush through an inspection, and I perform my tasks as though I was purchasing the property myself.
I also use a reporting system that is very easy for clients to read and understand. (Horizon) which includes detailed photos and diagrams with easy to understand descriptions of the conditions discovered, even for those who consider themselves unknowledgeable about construction.
Please call me, and I would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
